Welcome to the world of aesthetic medicine! Aesthetic medicine is a multibillion-dollar industry and one of the fastest-growing fields of health care. Introduction to Neurotoxin is a foundational class for healthcare providers interested in gaining entry into the field of aesthetic medicine.

Taught by Dr. Joseph A. Russo, MD, a Harvard trained, board-certified Plastic Surgeon with more than 30 years of experience and a successful surgical practice outside of Boston, this class provides the most up-to-date information on neurotoxins with a strong emphasis on anatomy and safety.

Introduction to Neurotoxin is designed for medical professionals (RN, NP, PA, MD, DDS) holding an active and unrestricted license in their field of practice. No previous experience in medical aesthetics is required.

Upon completion of this course, participants are able to recognize the mechanism of action of neurotoxins, differentiate between the products currently available in the United States, recognize the facial muscles most often injected with neurotoxins and the techniques required for the safe injections and ideal patient outcome.

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
  • Describe the pharmacology of botulinum toxins.
  • Review the mechanism of action of neurotoxins.
  • Identify patient characteristics that support the use of neurotoxin treatments.
  • List the proper dosing regimens.
  • Demonstrate proper injection technique in each treatment area.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in an aesthetic assessment & consultation.
Each learner will practice proper injection techniques under direct supervision in a supported learning environment.  A combination of OnDemand didactic presentation and a 1:1 student-to-educator ratio hands-on practicum offers a unique learning environment and platform to quickly expand the learner’s knowledge base.
